Rua Carmo is a great place to stay if you're in town for the first time. Your bucket list will likely contain the neighbouring Santa Justa Lift and Praça Luis de Camões, while the cobbled street itself is full of street performers and shops. Grandella Vinyl is a simple, relaxed home with abundant natural light and space. It's not our most luxurious offering, but we liked the abstract art prints and the view from the living room.

* This home doesn't have a lot of storage space – it's better equipped for a short stay
* The washing machine is next to the toilet, which probably isn't the best place to put it
