Gate Keepers Cottage: Galway

Originally built in 1924, by Bruce Ismay, of Titanic and the White Star Line, as the fishing lodge to his Irish escape retreat. The house has been extensively refurbished and extended, while retaining much of its old world charm and character with modern conveniences.

Close to the quaint town of Carraroe, with its world famous coral strand, the fishing lodge enjoys a picturesque setting on the Casla River (famous for salmon and trout fishing).

Location:
Our charming vacation rental is on the Wild Atlantic Way, within minutes of Carraroe and is situated 1.5km from Rossaveal Harbour (Aran Islands). Galway City is just a 35 minute drive away while Clifden is within 45 minutes.

The locality is served by golf courses (Connemara Isles and Oughterard), beaches, pubs and cafés, shops, a bus route and an expansive bogs (walking).
The home consists of four en-suite bedrooms, large kitchen dining area, living room, sunroom and guest toilet.

The lodge is in a superb location and is ideal for exploring Connemara, The Aran Islands, The Wild Atlantic Way and Galway City.
