Dalton Green Farmhouse is the 5 star, luxury, accommodation offered by the Steel family, as part of “Real Farm Holidays”. It is the farmhouse on their working farm called Kirkwood, and located in the heart of South Scotland, a beautiful, unspoilt, “Lowland” area with rolling hills, oak woods and lush pastures.

Graded the highest award by Visit Scotland and the AA, this is ultimate luxury accommodation in a traditional farmhouse and set in an outstanding environment.

You can enjoy luxurious holiday accommodation which is perfect for family gatherings, parties or for those who just want to get away from it all. Each room is spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and decorated in a country style with a mix of antique and modern furniture.

When you step outside the Farmhouse you are in rural bliss. Whilst you have your own large garden, the wider farm is dog walking heaven. Enjoy a real countryside experience by helping to feed the chickens and lambs, and even collect your own eggs.

Fantastic quiet location, friendly staff, great pub nearby
I made a large group booking, choosing this venue as the farm has a few cottages overlooking a shared courtyard. The accommodation was of a good standard (and great value) and I would happily come back for a break here again. The location was amazing - a picturesque farm with walks around the grounds, and a village pub a couple of miles walk away (which serves really good quality thai food).

The staff were great - they are always nearby, working on the farm and always stopping to check up on us and make sure we had everything we needed. Given the large group it was hard for us to organise activities but the staff set up an obtacle course for us where we drove a tractor round one of the fields, followed by a tug of war!

Fantastic location for a weekend getaway!
Fresh air, green fields and quality sleep accompanied by friends and local farm-stock! Dalton Green is a handsome cottage with stunning views and all the amenities you need to make a week away a dream come true.

We stayed here for a week what a great place to stay the place is very clean the staff are very friendly and always on hand if you need anything and we had fresh veg and eggs and honey all from the farm for a small price the quad biking with Rob was amazing just like to thank Rob and his staff for a great holiday will be recommending this cottage to friends.

Excellent Countryside Getaway
Visited over Easter 4 adults 2 children and 1 very lively border collie. Otter cottage was perfect for us and the children loved the games room. Lovely walks around the farm and woodland areas and just a short drive to local pubs - the Thai Orchid in Dalton was wonderful.

Magical
No words can really describe this place, you have to visit. We've returned time and time again over the last 18 years, give or take a few years in between, but it draws us back. The minute you drive up the lane, you won't be disappointed. You arrive with a personal greeting, spotless clean cottage, relaxed, warm and fuzzy feeling. We have dogs who are always welcomed, but you can't put into words what a magical place this is. Untouched in places, wildlife around every corner, just beautiful. We always take home meat reared on this land and it's truly delicious, melts in your mouth.
If you want complete peace and tranquillity, or special time away with family, this is the place to stay x
