Make sure you head into Newport on Monday morning to shop at the farmers’ market – you’ll be able to pick up the freshest local produce for your meals. You can also dine at the local pub – which is within walking distance of the cottage.

A seven-minute drive will get you to Newport Beach, a dune-backed sandy stretch that you’re sure to love. There’s windsurfing and canoeing for those that don’t mind getting their feet wet, and the beach is lovely for a wind-swept stroll. Of course, you can also stay warm in the cafe with a cuppa while the rest of your group works up an appetite.

After a day out in the elements, the cottage is bliss to return to. Sink into a comfortable seat and sip a glass of wine while you take in the breath-taking views from the living room.
