As well as its Georgian architecture, you can follow Captain's Walk to see the remains of Brecon's medieval walls or visit the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum at Brecon Barracks. Take advantage of good weather to cruise the canal that links Brecon with Newport. The area is steeped in history with some of Europe s finest surviving castles, Brecon Castle (0.5 miles) overlooking the River Usk, Abergavenny Castle (20.5 miles) and Crickhowell Castle (14 miles) set against the spectacular hills. Local attractions include The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works (both 24 miles) and the National Showcaves Centre (19 miles).
