Cottage in Cumbria: Cumbria

A network of tracks and trails lead from the local village so you can explore to your heart s content and leave the car behind. For a strenuous yet rewarding hike, follow the Kentmere Horseshoe, a 13 mile loop which starts from the village hall and boasts fantastic views. It is one of the Lake District s longest and more remote walks so pack some goodies to help you refuel along the way. A mile from home, enjoy a gentler stroll around Kentmere Tarn where wildlife is abundant. For a tasty treat or to pick up ingredients, make the 4 mile journey to the village of Staveley. Call this 17th century farmhouse yours for a while and head inside to settle in. The porch is a handy space to leave coats and boots before making your way through the door to open plan lounge/diner. With stunning views, high vaulted ceilings and plenty of character, find a spot in front of the wood burner and get cosy. Set the dining table ready for dinner where you can enjoy communal meals and raise a toast to your chef. A useful utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer for keeping clothes fresh and a ground floor bathroom with WC offers somewhere to soak your muscles. Step through the lounge/diner to the kitchen which is well equipped with an AGA, fridge/freezer, double Belfast sink, a dishwasher and a microwave. Creating the perfect spot to help prepare ingredients, the island divides the kitchen from the second dining space beyond. The breakfast table is surrounded by bright tones and leads out to the patio. Wind your way along a corridor, descend two steps and find yourself in the snug, an additional room in which to unwind. The snug can also be accessed via the lounge/diner by opening the stable door and stepping down. Full of character, this is an inviting room with a wood burner, low ceilings with exposed beams and a TV/DVD. After long days exploring, you deserve a good night s sleep. Find the first of four bedrooms by ascending and descending steps from the snug. A large, king size bedroom awaits and boasts garden views through the patio doors and a roll top bath so you can start your day with a sumptuous soak. Six narrow steps lead to a landing where there is a twin room with sloping floor and a cosy super king size bedroom with sloping floor and lovely views. There is a contemporary shower room with walk in shower and WC where you can freshen up in style. Head back through the lounge/diner and up another flight of stairs to access the remaining bedroom. A second twin bedroom has a sloping, vaulted ceiling and dual aspect windows. Heading back downstairs, there is a luxurious sauna suite with shower, bath and seating in a spa style room the perfect way to relax after a long day. A partially enclosed garden wraps its way around the cottage and has plenty of places to sit. The patio is perfect for al fresco evenings with a BBQ, seating and outdoor fireplace to keep the chill at bay. There are lots of places to discover in the garden which are perfect for littles ones looking to play. There is off road parking for two cars. For all of August 20 Please note that for all of August 2023, 7 nights stays will run from Thursday Thursday. Bookings made from a Friday will be moved to start the day before.
