February - 2018
Oh my goodness this place!! 12 of us stayed here last weekend for my sister's hen weekend. It was fabulous! Being February we had the place to ourselves with access to the tennis courts, boating on the lake, walks around the grounds and gardens, and a heated swimming pool! The weather was really cold so we didn't avail of the tennis or boating but made plenty use of the pool! The accommodation itself is amazing. Lovingly renovated and decorated. 6 double or twin rooms, all en suite with showers and baths. A little self catering kitchen area which was perfect for us. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to have hit on such a find! We watched rugby in the games room on the Saturday followed by some table tennis. Although we went out to Galway city to eat Saturday night, we didn't have to and could have happily stayed put the whole weekend. Moycullen and Oughterard are only 7km in either direction. We were a little late checking out (due to staying too long in the pool!) but Marshall, the lovely owner, never made us feel anything but welcome, despite having another booking after us, and we made the quickest possible exit. I'd recommend this place to anybody. Thank you Marshall!

Staying at Ross castle was a wonderful experience during our trip to Ireland. We were warmly welcomed by Margaret Mary and Padraic upon arrival. Catherine's Cottage was very comfortable and perfect for our group, but the real highlight of staying there was the beautiful grounds. Our entire group said that Ross castle was the best place we stayed during our whole trip and we would highly recommend Ross castle to anyone passing through the Galway area.

Ross Castle is remarkable! The the moment we drove through the ancient iron gates onto a sprawling property that is steeped in history, grandeur and beauty we were transported to a magical place. The McLaughlin’s have left no stone unturned in creating a place of warmth and comfort and conveniences within the historical walls. The bedrooms were cozy and comfy with radiant heated floors! The bathrooms clean with ample towels and plenty of hot water We were greeted by the beautiful, energetic Marshall, the lady of the manor and the creative spirit and driving force. We were delighted by the attention to detail at every turn, especially the formal gardens, which are Marshall’s pride and joy. It is hard to find the words to express the love and commitment that has created this treasure. We were also fortunate to be invited up to the big house for a tour and an opportunity get to know Marshall and George, which was truly a treat. Catherine’s Cottage and Ross Castle property was a true highlight of our Ireland adventure!
