This enormous mansion is less than a half-hour drive from Coachella Valley, Joshua Tree National Park, Salton Sea and Palm Springs, but to be honest, you could have the stay of a lifetime here without even leaving the property. In-home spa and massage services are available to help you fully unwind. It’s a veritable palace inside, with stone columns and tiles floors keeping things cool. Myriad lounges and seating areas are spread across the open living area with a dedicated movie nook, a grand circular lounge beneath the domed ceiling and a banquet-sized table for the group to dine. You don’t need to go to Vegas to roll the dice, either – within these walls, you’ll find a full casino-style set-up including snooker, foosball and a poker table to challenge your guests to a game or ten.

Play your cards right, and you’ll spend your stay drifting from decadent interiors to the sunny gardens, which are no less opulent – dive into the magnificent pool, soak in the integrated hot tub, host a barbecue to remember in the huge dining and grilling area, and spend a night watching the sun go down in the outdoor bar. Our favourite spot might have to be the teepee-style outdoor lounge, which adds a touch of boho charm to an otherwise opulent playground.
