Overlooking the canal in laid-back Castello, this traditional apartment is in a prime spot for exploring Venice. It's perfect for those in town visiting the famous Biennale, as both the Arsenale and the Giardini della Biennale are less than a ten-minute walk away. There are shops, cafes and eateries aplenty on Via Garibaldi – just around the corner – while landmarks like St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge are also easily reached on foot.
After a long day out and about, come home and unwind in the cosy living area. Kick off your shoes and sink into the squishy corner sofa with a glass of wine or let your culinary skills shine in the compact kitchen – it's small, but it's equipped with enough crockery to rustle up something delicious. Wooden beams, antique knick-knacks and shelves lined with worldly trinkets and well-thumbed books give the space a homely, warm atmosphere. And although the bedrooms and bathrooms are more simply styled and some of the furniture is a tad dated, the excellent location more than makes up for it.
Home truths: *The third bedroom has two single beds that can be arranged as a king on request *A cot for little ones can also be provided on request *This home is on the second floor without a lift – you'll have to climb stairs *The wifi can be patchy, so we wouldn't suggest this apartment as a base to work from home *Some of the rooms are more simply styled and a few pieces of furniture are a bit dated – those preferring a sleeker, modern look may want to look elsewhere *Although this is right on the canal, it is relatively quiet at night – that said, just in case *The air conditioning is only in the living room
