Brook Garth: North Yorkshire

Set in large private gardens with a babbling brook running the perimeter, this six bedroomed detached property has been refurbished to a very high standard and makes the perfect place for a family gathering or simply to celebrate a special occasion. Tucked away in the tiny little hamlet of Allerston, just outside the picturesque market town of Pickering, visitors can board the North York Moors steam train and sit back and relax, whilst it chugs its way across some of Yorkshire’s most stunning countryside, through the Esk Valley and into Goathland, better known as Aidensfield in the TV series Heartbeat.
A 15-minute drive leads to the popular seaside resort of Scarborough with restaurants, cinemas, theatres and of course its beautiful sandy beaches affording the perfect family day out. A little further afield lies the historic port of Whitby, famed for its connections with Captain James Cook, cobbled streets, ginnels and alleyways packed with curio, antique and specialist shops, which are all overlooked by the abbey ruins. With the walled city of York offering a more sophisticated day out just a 30-minute drive, and historic castles, abbeys and beautiful gardens all found closeby, this truly is the ideal location at any time of the year. The photographs of the property do not give it justice and need updating to reflect the true quality of the property.

The property was excellent in all aspects. The kitchen was very well equipped, so that we were able to make large family meals. When we arrived on the Saturday the owner had left the cottage immaculately clean and had even left flowers and a welcome pack with milk, tea and coffee. It was a great place to stay with my mother and father who are in their eighties and both have health problems. I would certainly recommend the property to others.

Every need seemed to have been anticipated. There was a welcome pack of beverages and milk etc on arrival. There were games, videos, books and plenty of space to play. The pool table was popular. The wonderful garden was enjoyed by everyone and the stream provided much entertainment with everyone joining in the great duck race. The kitchen gave space for the many cooks in the party. Altogether it was an ideal place for a large family gathering. The Australians among us particularly loved house garden and area. There is so much to explore that we would love to visit again.

The property was well presented and in an excellent location. We arrived on a cold day but the house was warm and inviting. It only took a few minutes to feel comfortable.

One of the best properties we have stayed in. The extra touches from the owners were very much appreciated- fresh flowers, welcome pack and fresh milk etc.

There were 10 adults staying in property and nobody felt they were on 'top of each other' the layout was excellent. Cooking for 10 people away from home can be difficult but the kitchen and equipment were excellent and all had a great weekend. I would recommend the property strongly.
