The Restaurant

High beamed like a church the dining room, converted from the former stables, is headed by a wood burning grill where meats are cooked over ambers. Open for dinner from mid March to the end of October Tuesday to Saturday.

Sitting on a promontory jutting out into Dunmanus Bay is Blairscove House. Surrounded by 4.5 acres of lawns and gardens, Blairscove is the ideal place to spend a few relaxing days.

Built around 1760, adjacent to ancient fortifications guarding the West Cork coastline, it saw a succession of fifty owners over the next 200 years. Since 1972 however, it remained in the hands of the same family and Philippe and Sabine De Mey, the present owners, have continued the work their parents began.

The finely restored courtyard with cobbled paths, lily pond, shrubs and flowers has become the centre of it all. The former out houses contain four beautiful guest apartments as well as the restaurant, with its magnificent dining room converted from the old stable block.

For the active, the Mizen Peninsula's sandy beaches are just a short drive away and the Sheep's Head peninsula boasts miles and miles of scenic walks. Bantry, Schull, Ballydehob and Skibbereen with their festivals, pubs, shops and restaurants offer plenty of action, not forgetting the golf courses of Bantry and Glengariffe which are amongst the most scenic you will ever play.

The pace is slow, the people are friendly. Pubs are plentiful and the food is wholesome and fresh. Above all you will discover a place, which is cosmopolitan and sophisticated yet at the same time unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful.

German, French and Dutch are spoken.

Durrus Location:

Situated on the coast of West Cork and just 6 miles from the wonderful town of Bantry - Durrus is renowned for its beauty and tranquility.

"Wonderful Evening"
Superb food, special ambience, beautiful piano playing, a night to remember. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after. The starters and main courses were perfection, and the desserts were sublime. Thank you to all the staff for the care and attention. We will be back soon

"Great for a group"
My wife and I had been keen to visit here for a couple of years after hearing great things. It lived up to expectations. The starter buffet and generous and varied, there was something for everyone and lots for most. For main I shared a large cut of steak. It was delicious and dramatic, cooked on the wood fire and served carved at the table. The desert was again a buffet, perfect. What I loved was that you had a varied bit of everything experience but the food was all top quality and the chefs took time to describe all the delights.

"2 nights in Blair's Cove"
We stayed in the Coach house, sublime views and double aspect, natural light so the space is wonderfully airy and relaxing.
Breakfast was brought to us each morning. What a treat - fresh white linen, napkins - table set and wonderful Coffee, fresh juices, breads, conserves, granola, smoothies, eggs n bacon yum!

Dinner in Blair's Cove is more than a meal, its an experience! My favourite course is the starter plate! The extensive menu is impressive and all tastes are catered to. The staff are professional, warm and friendly and their attention to detail is second to none. We have been coming here for many years and we will be coming back for many more. Highly recommend.
