The Restaurant
High beamed like a church the dining room, converted from the former stables, is headed by a wood burning grill where meats are cooked over ambers. Open for dinner from mid March to the end of October Tuesday to Saturday.
Sitting on a promontory jutting out into Dunmanus Bay is Blairscove House. Surrounded by 4.5 acres of lawns and gardens, Blairscove is the ideal place to spend a few relaxing days.
Built around 1760, adjacent to ancient fortifications guarding the West Cork coastline, it saw a succession of fifty owners over the next 200 years. Since 1972 however, it remained in the hands of the same family and Philippe and Sabine De Mey, the present owners, have continued the work their parents began.
The finely restored courtyard with cobbled paths, lily pond, shrubs and flowers has become the centre of it all. The former out houses contain four beautiful guest apartments as well as the restaurant, with its magnificent dining room converted from the old stable block.
For the active, the Mizen Peninsula's sandy beaches are just a short drive away and the Sheep's Head peninsula boasts miles and miles of scenic walks. Bantry, Schull, Ballydehob and Skibbereen with their festivals, pubs, shops and restaurants offer plenty of action, not forgetting the golf courses of Bantry and Glengariffe which are amongst the most scenic you will ever play.
The pace is slow, the people are friendly. Pubs are plentiful and the food is wholesome and fresh. Above all you will discover a place, which is cosmopolitan and sophisticated yet at the same time unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful.
German, French and Dutch are spoken.
Durrus Location:
Situated on the coast of West Cork and just 6 miles from the wonderful town of Bantry - Durrus is renowned for its beauty and tranquility.
"WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!' simply put....you CAN NOT fault Blairscove in any way, shape or form. It is an experience, even the entrance into the venue is amazing. The staff are amazing, so professional, welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu.
It is just amazing. The food is insane. It was honestly the nicest meal I ever had!!!!!!!! Will definitely be returning.
Caters for dietary restrictions....I'm celiac and have never had soooooo much choice on all three courses. The range of non-alcoholic drinks is really impressive!!!!
It's just the most beautiful setting and really was superb. I most commend all the staff, the kitchen staff are just geniuses!!!!!!
It should be a 7star dining experience!!!! I had the steak, my partner had the lamb for mains, cooked to perfection.....wanted to lick the plates!!!! So so so good!!!! Portions sizes were fab.

Amazing as always! My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights with our 3 month old baby. We stayed in the Coach House which has a spectacular view from a huge window. We try to visit the restaurant every year, but it was our first time staying on site, and it was lovely to only have a short walk to the restaurant. The breakfast on both mornings was delicious, with the crepes being a standout for both of us. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights, and as always it was just perfect. The buffet starter and dessert felt very safe as a member of staff put whatever food you wanted on the plates, and there was a great selection on both, I’m still dreaming about the chocolate tart. My husband had the beef which was juicy and tender, I had the lamb which was extremely tasty. There were plenty of sides also - potatoes, chips, veg, bread. They have a big selection of cocktails, and I was very impressed with the non alcoholic cocktail selection as I am currently not drinking alcohol. The staff were all amazing, with an excellent piano player in the background. Ann & Woody have put a lot of work in to make everyone feel safe while still maintaining the usual atmosphere in this fantastic restaurant. Looking forward to next years visit already!!

"Magical Place" Myself and my Husband spent a night in the most Magical Place called Blairscove, near Durrus in West Cork. Firstly, when we arrived we were shown to our Accommodation. It was a self-contained Mezzanine attached to the Main house, backing onto the walled garden at the back and overlooking the most beautiful and breathtaking view of the bay. It was perfect. Even when we lay in bed we were looking out over this spectacular view. We dined in the Restaurant that night and it was a wonderful experience. Even though they were constricted by the Covid regulations, it did not affect our experience. The Buffet Starter was excellent with lots of choice. I had Sole Meunière which was served with straight from the garden vegetables, just delicious, my husband had the lamb which was equally delicious. Buffet desserts were mouth watering. Excellent wines and the service friendly and unhurried. We were greeted warmly by the Owner initially and it carried all the way through.
The following morning our breakfast( that we had pre-ordered the night before) was delivered to our beautiful Mezzanine by another member of the friendly staff. Again, everything was beautiful and freshly cooked to order. We were very slow to leave this beautiful magical place and we will definitely be
