My boyfriend and I spent a week here from the 28th December with my extended family. Our first impression of the house when driving up the driveway in the dark was the large glass front with a well lit Xmas tree to greet us. Within moments, the house felt like home away from home but of a 5* standard. We only wish we lived in a house like this. Sitting having breakfast the next morning enjoying the panoramic views from Old Head Beach to Croagh Patrick was when we fully got to appreciate all this house had to offer. We are a family of foodies and the layout of the open plan kitchen and living area was perfect for prepping, cooking and long family dinners. The kitchen is very well stocked and to a very high spec. The bedrooms are comfortable with lovely white linen and towels. We climbed Croagh Patrick, we cycled the Greenway, we visited Achill, we did HIIT training in the garden, we had movie nights & we even swam in the sea and everytime we returned to Lagan we were met by a lovely warm house. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Michael and enjoyed a nice chat with him. Eamonn & Margaret looked after us so well and nothing was a hassle for them. There is so much to do and visit in the area. We recommend The Tavern for food and drinks in Murrisk, The DerryLahan in Louisbourg for a pre dinner drink, Durkans butchers in the town for cooking at home & if you like your craft beers, don't leave the area without trying Mescan Saison, brewed in the hills near the house. In summary we couldn't recommend this house highly enough and are both sad leaving the house & area this evening. Although we will be back. Thank you Michael, Eamonn & Margaret. :-)

We just returned after having spent a wonderful two week Family re-union at Avalon Beach . The Owner Michael is a gentleman and was very gracious and accommodating and Eamon was most helpful and Michael's Brother John brought us his special 'Guinness infused Brown Bread' which was simply divine - all of my Sisters were very impressed . The location is spectacular, just a stroll to Old Head Beach and easy access to Louisburgh which is a lovely little town with a great new Art Store and new Book Store. Westport which is a thriving larger town is just a 15 minute drive . We climbed Croagh Patrick and visited and hiked on Clare Island . The house was ideal for our group of 12 people and I would highly recommend it .

My sister stayed in Avalon last summer, and if the modern fit out with beach facing floor to ceiling window that makes the most of Clew Bay were not enough to make her a true disciple, the unexpected arrival of the owners brother with freshly baked soda bread most certainly was. Being genetically half - Mayo it was enough for me to encourage five other Londonistas to decompress after the Christmas break to Ireland West for a long weekend in early January… and it didn't disappoint... Up a sweeping drive to an understated bungalow, overlooked by Croagh Patrick and overlooking the bay, we were spoiled for choice with five bedrooms, three en-suite all with TVs . As the area feels old school you will be forgiven for experiencing a shock of the new with its American fridge, endless flat-screen telly, Sky, wine chiller, kitchen island, you get the picture. Avalon welcomes you in, gently embraces you and soon you realise you are in a space that is the essence of great design, a space that creates that rarest of response : one where you are happy simply to be. To sit and gaze, on mountain and bay.

Wow, this house was spectacular with every mod con and comfort you could ever need. With amazing views of Croagh Patrick, Clew Bay and Oldhead beach on your door step it truly is an exceptional place. As a party of 11 the house never felt overcrowded and there were plenty of activities nearby to keep everyone of all ages entertained. I would not hesitate to recommend this stunning house and idyllic location. Thanks Michael for the 5 star hospitality, to your brother for the beautiful home baked bread and to Eamon for the welcome and support during our stay. Will definitely return.

We visited Avalon at the beginning of October.A family celebration: a party of 13. We were overwhelmed by the house it`s space and quality of materials and so well fitted out with every modern appliance......As for the views stunning .both seawards and inland. .Croagh Patrick behind us and Clew Bay Just 100 yards ahead .Our experience with the owner and his manager was always a pleasure as they treated us with the greatest respect and good humour. All details of the rental went through as expected all of which lead to us having a wonderful weekend. We would deariy love to visit again for a longer stay and have recommended it to many friends already.

We stayed at Avalon for a family get together during Easter school holidays. This house has it all. Location, stunning views, great bathrooms, comfortable beds, fantastic kitchen, best quality electric equipment and best of all its spacious. With 8 adults, 4 kids and a 15 month baby we had plenty of room and everyone loved the house so much we're planning on coming again next Easter. We spent lots if time on the beach, no one minded getting wet or sandy as its so close to the beach we could be in the outdoor hot shower in a couple of minutes. Yes, it even has an outdoor hot shower, which the kids loved. There's loads to do in the area if you can drag yourself away, the older kids and fitter adults climbed Croagh Patrick and visited Delphi adventure centre. Nearby louisburg has a supermarket and Westport is good for shopping and has nice restaurants. Michael made booking the house easy, and was quick to answer any questions I had and his brother John called over as we were leaving with delicious brown bread he'd made us. Thanks Michael, John and Eamonn who met us and showed us around the house. So glad I had the opportunity to stay at Avalon.
