Area
Crossmaglen is a townland in Northern Ireland and the largest village in South Armagh, it is rich in history and tradition while also offering a wide range of modern conveniences and amenities. According to legend, the village is named after Owen Lennon, who is reputed to have had a shebeen, or an illegal ale establishment. The village's centerpiece, Cardinal O'Fiaich Square, is affectionately referred to as "Cross" by locals. Dundalk, the county town of Louth, is just a short drive away, and it offers even more historical delights in its museums and buildings, as well as a delightful crafts and farmers market where you may admire the residents' talents and pick up a memento or two. If you want to go a little further afield, Belfast is a great option. If you're looking for a unique day out, check out the Crumlin Road Gaol Visitor Attraction and Conference Center or the Titanic attraction. Crossmaglen is the ideal starting point from which to explore the whole of Northern Ireland. It is surrounded by so much beauty and wonder.
