We’ve got to hand it to this gorgeous home — or should we say mansion — on Hilton Head Island. As far as luxurious hideaways go, this one exudes class. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and within a two-minute walk of the beach, there is something deliciously magical about this place. We fell in love with the secluded palm-fringed swimming pools (one for the adults and one for the children). In fact, the leafy garden is something of a centrepiece, with balconies, terraces, and charming arched loggias all cleverly arranged to give maximum views over this delightful outside space. Find a peaceful corner to read a book, sip a cool drink before dinner or tuck into a family feast beneath the stars. And who could fail to be charmed by the sweet little path, twisting through the trees to the sand dunes and beach beyond? Sweep up the grand steps from the pool area and the treats continue inside, with a lofty entrance hall and impressive open concept living space — perfect for gathering the whole family together. A second living area upstairs gives plenty of room for large groups and families travelling together. There are big bedrooms galore (think four-poster beds and balcony views), palatial bathrooms and bunk beds for the kids. And because it’s all part of an exclusive, larger resort, there’s a wealth of facilities and amenities to enjoy should you wish to, including three golf courses, a tennis centre, restaurants, shopping and harbourside entertainment.

*There is an extra trundle bed in the bunk room as well as a daybed in one of the master bedrooms — perfect if you have a large guest list with lots of children
*You can make use of the free, seasonal Dune Buggy transport service to explore the resort
*The pool and spa can be heated for an additional charge – just ask the host in advance
*There's room for three cars in the garage and the driveway has additional room for up to four cars
*From April to August (included) – the host only accepts check-in on a Saturday or Sunday and check-out on a Thursday Friday Saturday or Sunday
