Glenlo Abbey Hotel: Galway

5-Star Glenlo Abbey Hotel and golf club is ideally located on the outskirts of Galway, at the gateway to Connemara, Ireland's most scenic destination.

The hotel features 50 Bedrooms and Suites designed with an emphasis on general space and comfort and a taste of old world charm. Its fine dining and entertainment options cater for both formal and informal occasions.

The hotel's grounds host two original carriages from the Orient Express. Dating from 1927, these carriages served on the Paris to Istanbul to St. Petersburg route; one of the pair was used in the making of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. Today serving as the Pullman Restaurant, the carriages offer a unique dining experience.

Amazing stay Really enjoyed the weekend we spent here at the hotel. You can do nothing and relax or you can make use of all of the activities they offer. The Pullman Restaurant is a must. Falconry was also worth it, the teacher was knowledgeable and funny! On Fri and Sat night they have a piano player in the lounge adding to the overall relaxed ambiance. They also have a fireplace going on all the time and the smell and sight of it always makes me feel more relaxed and at home. Overall, we had a great time and no complaints. The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel and grounds are wonderful. Highly recommended!!

Fabulous Stay Recently stayed here as part of a group tour of Ireland, and it was fabulous. The hotel, the rooms, the staff, the restaurants, the grounds, and the golf were all wonderful. We had the pleasure of being greeted by Sandra, and she was most helpful and welcoming, making us all feel special and taking personal care of every special request. I missed the group meal at the Pullman Restaurant, and she insisted and took care of arrangements for me to eat there the following night, and it was a superior meal and experience. The stay was one of the top highlights of our trip, and people like Sandra make me look forward to returning to this hotel.

First Class Service We spent 2 nights and wished we had stayed more. This was our best hotel experience in Ireland by far. We can't say enough good things about the staff. They were all genuine and solicitous. Everything was in first rate condition. Unlike the previous review we had no issues with our room's climate control system. We highly recommend this hotel. .

Fabulous Hotel Excellent experience. The staff, especially Sandra, are just amazing. Dining in the Pullman restaurant is an experience not to be missed. Thank you Conaire. Looking forward to returning again. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Galway.

"Lovely, Relaxing Place to Stay - Do the Falconry Excursion!!!" Lovely castle/hotel about 3 miles from the Galway city center. A few friends and I stayed there for a night before our return to Dublin, and it was a great experience. The hotel itself as well as its grounds are lovely. It's definitely more of a hotel than a traditional castle, but regardless the whole ambiance is truly something special. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful, although not overly friendly. The rooms were large, comfortable, and had a fantastic view. My husband enjoyed the driving range, and we all enjoyed sitting outside drinking wine on the porch (we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather for our stay). However, the highlight of our trip was our falconry excursion with Jason. I highly recommend it! It was such a fun, educational, amazing experience to see the birds (owls, hawks, and falcons!) up close. My friends and I can't stop talking about it! Overall, I would definitely recommend a night at Glenlo Abbey if you're looking for quiet, relaxing experience away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Galway.
