The Sanctuary estate consists of a renovated 100-year old cottage. There are also separate out-buildings (stables) that have been converted into three self-contained studios next door to each other (Studios 1, 2, and 3). Studio 1 is also available for guests (please see other listing for The Sanctuary - Studio 1: Self-Catering for 2). The host stays from time to time in Studio 3.
The estate, formerly a donkey sanctuary, sits on an elevated five-acre site in a peaceful, rural area surrounded by Gortacurka (Irish for field of the oats) Forestry. It has views in the distance of Mullaghmore Hill, the Burren Hills, Corofin village, Lake Inchiquin, and Ballycullinan Lake. One can relax to the sounds of the birds in the forestry, hear the wind in the trees, or listen to the babbling stream that flows through the estate especially after a rain shower. There is very little light pollution here so on a clear night, the stars are quite spectacular.

The house was incredible and Patrick was a great host. So helpful, easy to communicate with great attention to detail at the place. Would love to stay again.

We stayed at Patrick’s Sanctuary for 2 nights and loved it. There was 11 of us and there was plenty of room for us all. Patrick was extremely helpful and welcoming throughout. The pictures don’t to it justice! The place was extremely clean and tidy. It’s a very good location with just a short car journey to Lahinch, Ennis and Doolin. We would highly recommend staying with Patrick and will definitely be back in the future

We had a great time at Patrick's Sanctuary. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The house is very conveniently located and very quiet. I would absolutely recommend to stay there and will again.I would rate Patrick’s House as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have ever stayed. The place was very clean(with extra covid precautions taken) ,a traditional feel with a twist and had everything we needed to feel at home(you literally don't need to bring any utensils, pots or pans. It was a very short drive to all the sites we wanted to see. Also close to shops which was handy.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Sanctuary. Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing staycation. The house is so comfortable and everything you need is provided. It's set in a beautiful part of the country and not too far from Lahinch, Liscannor and the likes.
