Ross Castle: Galway

TWO NIGHT MINIMUM RATE STIPULATION:
Synonymous with luxury group accommodation, Ross Castle Demesne provides refined elegance for rare occasions or a truly memorable vacation in Galway. The distinctive ambience of the Castle's grand rooms and self-catering cottages, accented with bespoke antique furnishings, will captivate you and up to 36 guests. The historic 120-acre lakefront estate is entirely immersed in a spectacular setting of mountains, lake, and parklands.

Developed in 1539 by The "Ferocious" O'Flaherty, one of the most distinguished tribes of Galway, the property was later acquired by the Martin Family who built the present manor house upon the former castle's foundation. After two fires and much neglect, the McLaughlin family purchased the property and invested several decades restoring this beautiful estate to its present splendour.

Guests are invited to enjoy all of the amenities: indoor heated swimming pool, Billiards room, tennis court, lake with boat/canoe/fishing gear, gardens, and trailed public forest at the estate's periphery. Ross is just a 20-minute drive from Galway City (Cathedral) and less than an hours drive of The Aran Islands, Cliffs of Mohar, salmon/trout fishing, golf courses and horseback riding.

Make the time to visit
Amazing castle dating to the 15th century and surrounded by a stunning area and landscape. The lake and the mountains really add to the experience. The castle and the surrounding grounds are well restored and cared for. Very picturesque and worth visiting. Plenty of car parking spaces also.

Ross Castle from the outside is beautiful.
Visiting the castle in February was a cold, windy outdoor adventure that was excellent. You get the real feel for the times as the wind blows your body around the grounds. The structure and architecture are magnificent. The view of Killarney National Forest from the top level is breath taking. The recent heavy rains flooded and blocked the parking lots, but the path to the castle is on higher ground.

"Gorgeous"
Just one word - gorgeous. This beautiful castle on the banks of the beautiful lake is like from the pages of a medieval fairy tale. An absolute must if you are in Killarney. Free parking and a short drive from the center of town. Also bikig or walking distance.
