“Perfect in every way” After driving from Dublin in the rain, on the 'other' side of the road, in a rented car, we wanted to relax and the Connemara Sands Hotel was the perfect place. It is family owned and run in an elegant yet friendly way. The breakfast is exceptional! The bar and restaurant is lovely, comfortable, and so nice we didn't eat out. There is a lot to do within driving distance but if you plan on pub food/music in the nearby towns it isn't do-able unless you have a designated driver as the roads are narrow, with lots of curves. It is nearby many wonderful places to visit, but we ended up spending most of our time just walking on the beach which is literally right outside the back door on the hotel. And, we lucked out in being able to see the Connemara Pony show that was accross the street and down the road a bit. Highly recommend for families-- we had a two bedroom suite with a nice-sized living room and windows on all sides. The views were terrific.

"10/10 Perfect Service" We stayed here as a gang of 10 for a family event. I can’t rate the service high enough. We booked too many rooms (long story!) and as a result had 4 suites for 10 folk. This was no headache for management - they just refunded the room we didn’t need. They really didn’t need to - it was completely our mistake.
The location is fabulous, on the coast, close to the beach and only 10 minutes into Clifden. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I loved the idea of the little sitting rooms which gave us somewhere to relax and watch TV while the rain poured down outside. My only recommendation would be for a few more catering provisions in the room. It would have been lovely to have a fridge to keep drinks / fruit / snacks in. A couple of knives and forks and a few more glasses. And according to my 8 year old the TVs are very small! Thanks guys, we had a great time and will definitely be back.

Wonderful relaxation After resolving a mix up regarding our room we settled into a self catering unit that was very nice. 2 stories, full kitchen including laundry facilities, and 2 bedrooms. The setting for the hotel is somewhat remote with incredible scenery. The resort includes a spa which we did not take advantage of. There is a restaurant, primarily for the guests at the hotel but self-catering guests can eat at the restaurant by advising the hotel staff in advance. We did not eat at the restaurant so we cannot comment about the food.

"Stunning Wedding on the beach" I recently attended this hotel for a wedding which took place on the private beach on a rare sunny day in June! The beach is absolutely beautiful and the sea is very shallow so suitable for young children to paddle in. I can’t recommend the hotel enough. It’s family run and the majority of the staff are wonderful and so friendly. Martin at reception couldn’t do enough for us. I asked for a travel cot when we arrived and he came over within minutes and had such a cheery attitude. I also needed a bottle made up for my baby while we were waiting to check in and again it was no trouble. We stayed in the houses and they were spacious, clean and had everything you would need. The best thing about this hotel (apart from the staff) is the food. The meal for the wedding stood out as one of the best we have had at a wedding. Beef was cooked to order and melt in your mouth. Beautiful freshly baked scones for afternoon tea in the sunshine. The only negative was the lady with dark hair that worked in the bar. She was unhelpful and bordered on rude several times towards guests. Otherwise we were exceptionally happy with our stay and will certainly return.

A Gem of a Place We went here for 2 nights, 18 of us, to celebrate Dad's 70th. We had a ball! It was perfect for the kids and therefore perfect for the adults!! Two min walk to beautiful beach in front of hotel, tennis courts, self catering accommodation, beautiful food in bar and restaurant and gorgeous rooms. Staff were so friendly especially Paddy in the bar and made our weekend even more special as they treated us like royalty. A real gem of a place that surpassed our expectations. Thank you Connemara Sands for contributing to a very special weekend.
