Killarney Home & Cottages: Kerry

One of Kerry's best group accommodation options for large families and tour groups. Idyllically set in 40 acres of woodland, this 18th-century manor house overlooks the River Laune in Killarney, County Kerry. Originally a castle, the property now provides luxury self-catering accommodation for up 30 to guests.

This historic property dates back to 1598 when in 1760 the present house was built with the remaining three walls of the castle forming the hallway, which makes it probably the oldest inhabited space in Kerry.

In 1840 the interior was altered and the chimney-pieces and plaster-work date from this time.

Accommodation:
Along with the main house, there are four self-catering cottages. The main house sleeps 8, and one of the cottages also sleeps 8. One cottage sleeps 6, and two cottages sleep four each.

Main House:
Wholly refurbished in recent years it's now available for holiday rentals, offering four large double bedrooms, each with king-size beds convertible to twin (two single beds) and en-suite bathroom. Reception rooms include a drawing room, library and formal dining room.

Cottages:
In 1998 the 18th century stone courtyard was converted to provide additional accommodation in four superbly appointed cottages. The largest, Laune, has four bedrooms, Flesk has three bedrooms, and Torc and Keal each have two bedrooms.

The comfortable sitting rooms have warm, open fires, CD stereos, televisions and video recorders. Each cottage also has a utility room with washing machine. The two larger cottages have exceptionally spacious dining areas and sitting rooms, ideal for entertaining.

All the bedrooms are equally spacious with king size beds, convertible to twin, and every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. We provide all linen including Egyptian cotton bed linen and bath towels but beach towels are not provided.

The kitchen/dining room areas open on to south or west facing terraces with views to the mountains. The kitchens are equipped with gas hobs, double ovens, microwaves and dishwashers.

"An over the top Irish hospitality experience that is not to be missed!" As one of a group of 17 who was hoping for a very special and memorable celebratory reunion experience for our first visit to Ireland, hosts Donald and Rachel Cameron went to great lengths to ensure that all of our expectations were not only met but truly exceeded. The accommodation was excellent and the special catered dinners we requested and they very graciously arranged to personally prepare for us were worthy of a Michelin star!! Our group were exposed to and treated to the special Irish hospitality we all read about but may have trouble finding. An exceptional experience.

"One Fabulous Week in Ireland" We had a group of 20+ family members and rented all of the house. It was definitely the lifestyles of the rich and famous. A house keeper came to the big house each morning. She made our beds, gave us fresh towels, and straightened up each morning. It was a great location and beautiful setting. Taxi service and chartered buses took us everywhere. We were there to honour the legacy of our parents. The memories will be with us forever. Definitely recommend!!!

"Best self catering cottage I ever stayed in" Can't speak highly enough of the place. Clean place, very spacious. Very friendly owners with glorious grounds in an excellent location. Will be returning many times in the future. Close enough to Killarney to avail of it without being in the hustle and bustle. Loved every moment.

"Comfortable stay in an excellent location" The hosts were very pleasant and accommodating, they had even left a welcome pack & freshly picked daffodils on kitchen table which was a nice touch set in acres of gardens and beautiful mountain views, we stayed in 2 bedroom Keal cottage, it was very clean, spacious & exactly as shown on website. The bedrooms both had ensuites, with great shower & large towels, beds were comfortable with high quality bedding, kitchen was very spacious & very well equipped with everything you would ever need, there was also a downstairs toilet/utility room, comfortable living room with open fire & small tv/games/DVD’s. This is an an excellent base for exploring the ring of Kerry/dingle peninsula, 5min drive to Gap Of Dunloe, 10min drive to Ross castle/Muckross house/Torc waterfall/Killarney town. For restaurants/drinks 5min walk to Beaufort bar/inbetween bar, 5min drive to Kate Kearney’s cottage.. 5min walk to local shop or 5min drive to lidl supermarket for supplies. We loved our stay here and will deffo be making a return trip down to this beautiful part of the world! Thank you for your hospitality!
