The House Restaurant: Waterford

The House Restaurant

This Michelin Star Hotel Restaurant is located in the luxury 5-star Cliff House Hotel. Executive Chef Ian Doyle's main focus is on sustainability and keeping everything as Irish as possible, supporting local, with an emphasis on producers and local fisherman as well as using wild ingredients from land and sea while taking inspiration from our history, heritage and surroundings.

The fine dining experience is open for dinner from 6.30 pm and comprises both a tasting menu as well as à la carte options enjoyed in our ocean-facing, glass-walled dining room with a sea-coloured carpet, silvery velvet banquettes and plush tweed chairs. The adjacent private dining room features a fire and dramatic, 20ft-long oak table. The House Restaurant is also where houseguests can enjoy an à la carte breakfast until 11 am, the price included in your room rate. Dishes include a full Irish, as well as local oatmeal porridge or smoked salmon with spinach, egg and tartar sauce. The menus provided below should be treated as samples only. Wine pairings - including tasting menus - are provided by our cellar.

An exciting new phase in the continuing story of Cliff House Hotel has just begun, with the appointment of Executive Chef, Ian Doyle, leading a new and dynamic young kitchen team at the helm of this elegant coastal retreat.

Without doubt this was some of the best food we have had in a long time The first evening we had a tasting menu
This had 16 elements. Each one as exciting as the next. We also had a bar food meal. This was very from the normal burger offer
The staff were first class overall expensive but well worth it

Superb michelin star journey
Everything of the dinner from the quality of the food to the presentation was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, especially Audrey who was very attentive and friendly. Second michelin star will come in no time!

Artistic food not to be missed
Having gone to Michelin restaurants for a number of years in Dublin, none of them compare to the artistic food presented here and it is not to be missed.

Myself and my wife each went with the 3 course set menu an choose differently for each course.

Don't let the 3 course make you think that you will be left wanting at the end, because you will not, there is a lot of food :-)

From the amuse bouche to the coffee at the end all the food was magnificent, not only in flavor but the colorful presentation was outstanding.

The smoked salmon starter was probably the best I've ever tasted. But there was nothing that was a disappointment in any way.

The candyfloss desert was something else, and you get all 3 as full deserts not just small tasters.

The is a good selection of Wines on offer and the own brand house wine starting at €24 (if I remember correctly) was good.

3hr later we rolled out of the restaurant very satisfied.

If you can, book dinner early to take advantage of the view in daylight.
