Taste at Rustic: Dublin

Teasing and torturing your senses, Dylan McGrath’s newly accredited Five Star restaurant delivers an amazing experience, unlike anything you have ever tasted before. Here is a man who understands tastes and textures at an instinctive level. McGrath invites you to explore the five tastes: Sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami, each of which align with flavour-patterns uniquely and accentuate even the humblest of produce. He has placed a huge emphasis on using authentic Japanese flavours. His unique, creative style and expert detail can be seen in every dish.

Situated on the top floor above his innovative and popular restaurant Rustic Stone, in Dublin's Georges street, Taste is an intimate, rich space with high-end woods, exposed brick, luxurious chairs and striking branding on the chopsticks and menu. The bar area surrounds the entire cooking space, giving the diners a bird’s eye view of the magic at work.

An unusual feature which makes this restaurant stand out is the ability to cook your own food at your table and become involved in the experience!

“Dublin has a new milestone restaurant. This is one Taste you will not want to pass.”

"Simply amazing dining experience!" The tuna akami was extremely fresh and well prepared. If not for the other items grabbing my interest, I could have ordered 10 pcs of this and been happy. The salad...I never thought a pear/avocado salad could meld together so well. HIGHLY recommended. Broccoli tempura was also great, with tempura sauce and an aioli provided to dip. Batter was light, broccoli was nicely cooked. If you have to eat your veggies, just deep fry them first. Wagyu - this was very nicely prepared, and well seasoned. Simple and yet excellent. Just be prepared for the expense, which if you know wagyu, should come as no surprise. The mochi was the best I've *ever* eaten. Being of Japanese descent and from Hawaii, I've eaten my fair share of grocery store mochi. This dessert was nothing short of phenomenal. Amazing meal, and I look forward to visiting again.

"Unforgettable experience!" We've never had such amazing fresh fish. The taste was very delicate mixing a whole set of different favours. Cocktails were also very imaginative and tasty. Very welcoming service. An experience we'll remember.
