Nevin Maguire lets his ingredients have their own voice and uses his skills to make them sing - pure harmony on a plate. MacNean House and Restaurant are where Neven Maguire grew up; it's where he first developed a love of cooking with his mother; it's where he built his reputation and turned Blacklion into a culinary Mecca, and it is now where he works alongside his wife Amelda to create remarkable food in a beautiful setting. The dining room is gracefully proportioned with large windows to the front and well-spaced tables throughout. The décor is classic and opulent.

Wow. 5 star experience from start to finish. Dinner was possible the best meal I've ever had. Attention to detail and staff knowledge were both second to none. Breakfast was delightful experience also. Can't wait to return.

Had our first visit to McNean House at the weekend. Been fortunate enough to have many fine dining experiences while travelling & working abroad, however genuinely none rivalled this. Quite simply the best meal & dining experience have ever had.

Simply incredible experience. We were waiting 2 years since we initially booked but it was worth the wait. Staff are very friendly and professional from the moment we arrived. We booked a junior suite room and the room was overlooking the courtyard. It was a beautiful room but nothing out of this world. The food on the tasting menu on the other hand was like nothing we ever experienced before. Each dish was nicer than the previous. They were beautifully presented and tasted incredibly. We were fortunate enough to meet Nevin in advance of our meal and he was an absolute gentleman. So welcoming and personable. There is no question on if we will return it will be a matter of when is the next availability.

"Worth every cent" From start to finish, every moment of the MacNean experience is one to savour. From the sumptuous surroundings, to the warm, unstuffy service and most importantly, the sensational food, this place more than lives up to the hype. Yes, it's expensive, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion or treat. It's impossible to pick out a favourite dish from the night - every bite was sensational. The wine pairings are also superb and definitely worth spending on. Wonderful place.

"Better than expectation - superb" Sunday lunch started at 1230 with relaxed drinks in the reception area where it was clear staff attitude was more than welcoming.
When we were brought to our table, Every element of the 6 courses was truly exceptional - in flavour combinations, visual presentation and overall taste. The experience was unhurried and relaxed and the service levels excellent - by the 5/6 different staff members who served our table. If the coffee had been stronger we would rate it 11 out of 10!

"Exceptional Dining & Wining Experience" A large group of 12 of us were treated to a wonderful night of top quality food and wine. All went for the tasting menus (€139), some without wines (€89), and all were exceptionally presented and tasted truly delicious. The palate cleansers were tasty and welcome. A pre-dinner drink in the lounge gave all a chance to review the courses on offer, assisted by staff in outlining all the options and all selections were made there. We had coeliacs, gluten free and vegans amongst us and all were remembered exactly when food arrived. It was a 9.30pm sitting on a Saturday night and a warm atmosphere prevailed. The staff were all very friendly and expertly described each item of food - and the sommelier briefed us on the champagne and 4 wines that accompanied the food. All thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Many of those that were at the 6.30pm sitting were listening to a band in the lounge. We were non-residents. What a night ! We went straight to the desk to re-book for next year !

"Dinner & Overnight Stay" We had dinner and stayed over at Mc Nean house for our wedding anniversary in September. The meal, as always was fantastic, as we were staying over we went with the wine option, where the match the glass of wine to the food you have ordered. The accommodation is very nice and tastefully decorated, with some homemade biscuits on the tea tray. The toiletries came from the nearby Voya Seaweed Baths in Strandhill. Breakfast the next morning was a sumptuous feast, I had the porridge and eggs benedict. Highly recommend the porridge. This is a great place to go for a special occasion and is worth saving up for!
