We booked three nights’ accommodation in February with the prospect of gourmet dining at Gregan’s Castle.

Since then, the chef (Robbie McCauley) has left and the gourmet dining has been abandoned. We were offered an unchanging 4-choice set menu.

The hotel failed to tell us of the changes in advance and did not even bother to mention it when we checked in.

A great break in luxury surrounds. Great food - should have a Michelin star. Attentive staff and good Covid regulation standards.

We booked in for afternoon tea to celebrate a special occasion. We were so well looked after. Gorgeous table with amazing views across the Burren. Excellent service. The food....we all thoroughly enjoyed tasting our way through the beautifully presented offerings. The mix of savoury and sweet was perfect so that in effect it became an amazing lunch.
Our waiter explained what everything was and then left us to enjoy it all. Tea and coffee were kept supplied.
The food was absolutely delicious...we were all so impressed.
Thank you to everyone at Gregans. We will definitely be back.

"Wonderful experience at Gregans Castle"
Well, the name is a little deceptive. It is not a Castle. But it is a wonderful 21 room boutique hotel in County Clair and we loved it. Inexpensive compared to some of the castles we stayed at. But crisp immaculate rooms and a lovely setting. And that restaurant in the hotel. Incredible! In fact, the best dinner we had in all of Ireland. I seriously considered stealing that chef and bringing him home with me to Seattle. Amazing! We will make it a point of staying here again when we return.

"We loved our stay!"
From tea and scones when we arrived to the amazing breakfast before we left, we absolutely love everything about Gregans Castle. Cozy warm atmosphere and unbelievable views. We loved chatting with the hotel/bar/restaurant managers and only wished we could have spent more time there.

Phenomenal place to escape to...
Country style manor/home. Excellent rooms, great little pub on-site and the restaurant was 5 Star. Olivia was a fantastic host and really made us feel special. The grounds/estate have breath taking view of Galway Bay as well as The Burren! Will return to this fantastic place.

"Delicious food"
Booked a table for dinner at 6.30pm for a family of six. We arrived early.... the hotel guest desk knew our reservation, knew we were early and so we were sat in the parlour. Lovely open flame fire burning and comfortable seats for our pre dinner drinks.

Our server in the restaurant explained the al a carte menu and asked if we had any dietary requirements. Two vegetarians and the rest with no requirements. Started with in house sour dough bread and whipped butter. Then a variety of amuse bouche and a pre starter. The starters of lobster with sauce and vegetable spaghetti with cheese curds was delicious. Mains were gnocchi with mushrooms and glazed onions, monkfish and beef with jus and a smoked potato mash.

All dishes were beautifully balanced, seasoned and delicious. We ate everything with great pleasure. Our server was knowledgeable and a lovely girl. We then retired back to the parlour for petit fours and tea and coffee. After a busy day exploring the coast line of County Clare this dinner was a real treat. I cannot believe that this restaurant has not been awarded a Michelin Star. The food deserves one. I have eaten at other one and two star restaurants and the food and service here was up there on the right level.

When I return to County Clare I am going to treat myself to a few days stay. The views from the dining room and parlour windows of the Burren are stunning. You would stay here just for the view. This was an unexpected treat of fine food and fine service.
