"Delicious food"
Booked a table for dinner at 6.30pm for a family of six. We arrived early.... the hotel guest desk knew our reservation, knew we were early and so we were sat in the parlour. Lovely open flame fire burning and comfortable seats for our pre dinner drinks.
Our server in the restaurant explained the al a carte menu and asked if we had any dietary requirements. Two vegetarians and the rest with no requirements. Started with in house sour dough bread and whipped butter. Then a variety of amuse bouche and a pre starter. The starters of lobster with sauce and vegetable spaghetti with cheese curds was delicious. Mains were gnocchi with mushrooms and glazed onions, monkfish and beef with jus and a smoked potato mash.
All dishes were beautifully balanced, seasoned and delicious. We ate everything with great pleasure. Our server was knowledgeable and a lovely girl. We then retired back to the parlour for petit fours and tea and coffee. After a busy day exploring the coast line of County Clare this dinner was a real treat. I cannot believe that this restaurant has not been awarded a Michelin Star. The food deserves one. I have eaten at other one and two star restaurants and the food and service here was up there on the right level.
When I return to County Clare I am going to treat myself to a few days stay. The views from the dining room and parlour windows of the Burren are stunning. You would stay here just for the view. This was an unexpected treat of fine food and fine service.
