Flemings Restaurant: Cork

Rarely in life does one find a place that exudes the elegance, charm and sophistication of Flemings Restaurant in the historic Silver Grange House in Tivoli, Cork.

Set in extensive grounds, 10-minutes drive from Cork city in the leafy suburb of Tivoli, this magnificent Georgian mansion was purchased in 1989 by Michael and Eileen Fleming who set about its restoration.

Large sash windows let the southern light pour in, while two open fireplaces and crisp white table linen set the scene for an exquisite dining experience. The menu changes regularly to respect the seasons and to ensure the freshness and high quality of the ingredients; vegetables and herbs are freshly harvested in the surrounding five acres of garden.

Chef-patron Michael Fleming is an artist in the kitchen with a passion for exceptional food and has been voted best Chef in Munster by Good Eating Guide in 2014. The menu is traditional French cuisine, while also embracing some more contemporary dishes.

With top quality produce, excellent service, peaceful ambiance and true generosity of spirit, Flemings Restaurant is considered one of Cork’s finest dining institutions!

"Superb food, excellent service" Went for dinner with a party of 8 (pre-booked). The food was fabulous, really good, especially the taster menu, service was excellent. If you need an unusual up-market restaurant, this is the place to be. The grand house needs a bit of a refresher, and seems that the maintenance of it is falling behind, heating thermostats, downstairs curtains nearly falling of... definitely going back

Exceptional Meal I ate here with my wife a few weeks ago and its really one of Corks best restaurants. The location is unusual in that its a bit outside of town in an old country style house off the lower glanmire road. As a result the interior is a bit dated but for us that's part of the charm. The night started in a tiny bar just inside the front door staffed by the one waiter on for the night. As you read the menu you can chat away over a drink which is nice. Once you've ordered and the starter is nearing completion you move into the dining room to be seated. The dining room is spacious with large white tables, linen and silver service. The food when it arrived was really outstanding. The preparation, quality and taste is far superior to most restaurants. The portions were quite generous. The one waiter was on for the night and he was very friendly and helpful. Service was slightly slow at the end when we wanted to pay and leave but again I think that was intentional to not rush people. The bill couldn't be called cheap as you could easily spend 200 for your full dinner including wine however its couldn't be considered overpriced. We've earmarked here as one of our special occasion restaurants and will definitely be back.

"Dinner Party for 6" I visited with friends on Friday evening. This was a first time visit for them. As always Michael was in attendance as were his friendly and super welcoming staff. I was particularly looking forward to the opinions of my guests to the food and wine which awaited them. A culinary delight is how one of my guests described their visit. This is a no hurry restaurant. Food is served with the intention that you enjoy it at your pace. If possible it has improved over the years, fresh food at its best.
