Clonganny House: Wexford

Clonganny House

A Glorious Georgian Gem nestled on the coastline of north Co. Wexford. Minutes from the stunning beaches at Cahore, Old Bawn, Ballinoulart and Morriscastle; just 15 minutes from the busy market town of Gorey. A perfect escape to peace and tranquillity, Clonganny House is a notch above the rest when it comes to fine dining. 4-course dinner is cooked by French chef, Philippe, and served in the elegant dining room. Crisp white linen tablecloths, sparkling glassware and shining cutlery complement the delectable delicacies and sublime sauces for which he is renowned.

The menu reflects the best of fresh produce available from top quality local suppliers Philippe has sought out since moving to Ireland. Enjoy a drink before dinner in the luxurious drawing room and relax there after dinner with a coffee … bliss! If you have a passion for food and would like a hands-on opportunity to develop your culinary skills, you might want to consider Philippe’s private cookery lessons!

Absolutely delicious food. Beautiful presentation of food and flavor. Set menu but everything was delicious. Didn’t mind not having a choice. Service was attentive and friendly.

"Wow nice find"
Staying here is a real treat, only 6 x rooms so very insular. Bronagh greeted us on arrival and off to watch the Scotland Ireland match. Rooms are huge, spotless and French in theme. Bathrooms huge as well. Into the drawing room at 7pm for pre dinner drinks. Wine list very French, and you can spend what you like, we picked a nice red at €47. Set menu which started with trout with lobster claw in a lobster bisque, delicious. Followed by fillet of beef with usual trimmings. Followed by cheeseboard, champagne sorbet, and chocolate desert, chocs and coffee. Ab Fab and €110 per couple, very reasonable.

Breakfast endless different fruits, fresh granola and then the full Irish of you can fit it in. Smoothies and pastries too. Really couldn't fault it. We will defo be back.

"...Next the food - Chef and Owner Philippe excels in his kitchen. His 4 course dinner at €50 per head is excellent value for money and simply delicious. His experience and love of French cooking is evident throughout. My favourite was my starter of asparagus in puff pastry with an egg and smoked salmon on the side with butter sauce. This dinner menu is French food with a quirky twist at its best. It's also nice that Philippe mingles with the guests as does Brona his wife without being too intrusive. Their young local student waitress is a great addition to the their little team and very friendly and knowledgeable too.

Breakfast the following morning was as good as the night before dining. Philippe cooked us hot breakfasts to order and fuelled us up for the day with plenty of requested extra eggs even duck ones."

"... A five course dinner was served in the dining room and if you are a lover of food this is the highlight of the stay. The owners have immense experience in the hospitality business and it is obvious they are passionate about delivering a superb service to their guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay where both Brona and Philippe were so generous with their time and incredibly interesting to talk to. The only problem with writing a review for this property is now everyone will know what a gem of a place this is! We will most certainly be back. Thank you to our great hosts."
