In Adare Village, there stands a charming whitewashed thatched cottage. You have to stop, for this is in fact 1826 Adare, an award-winning restaurant in operation since 2013. Owned and operated by Chef Wade Murphy and his wife Elaine, the food here is fresh, local and is influenced by the rugged Wild Atlantic Coastline.
Wade and Elaine strive to maintain the old world charm and character of the cottage while offering you modern Irish cooking, matched with friendly and attentive service. Seasonal local produce is the foundation of Wade's food philosophy, so menus change on a monthly basis, and there are blackboard specials such as whole sole, braised meats and so on, changing daily.
A classically trained chef, Wade Murphy, has worked in some of the top kitchens in London, Chicago, Egypt and of course Ireland. A Wexford native with a passion for food from a young age, there was never really any doubt what career path Wade would follow. Elaine herself has a vast amount of experience in the hospitality industry from Germany, the USA and Australia. The marriage of the two backgrounds lends itself perfectly to the award-winning establishment of 1826 Adare that they have both worked so hard to create.

I recently went here in a visit to Adare. The food was exceptional. The mussel starter was the best I've ever had. Loved the food

We popped in on our way back to Dublin for an impromptu glass of wine and nibble and we were accommodated so beautifully by the lovely Caroline, despite a busy restaurant - we sampled probably the best fish “fingers” I have tasted. Wade came out and greeted us and the whole experience was just fabulous. If only we had had more time, but we will be back. Beautiful food, beautiful service, and a lovely end to our day.. a must visit.

We went to this restaurant for a special anniversary dinner as it came highly recommended. And we were not disappointed. The food was excellent. The ingenuity of taking dishes I have had previously and turning them into something special was present in all 3 courses. For example in the goats cheese and beetroot salad there was a beetroot meringue. Great service and a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely go again

My husband and I dined in 1826 on our staycation around Ireland. The atmosphere was lovely - warmly welcomed by Elaine. I had the Monkfish scampi - melt in the mouth - main course for me was chicken and my husband baked cod. I had the lemon tort for dessert. It was beautiful from start to finish and great value for fine dining. We will be back.

"Wonderful" A great experience in a lovely atmospheric restaurant. Great food, good prices, portions could be slightly more generous (we were relieved we ordered the delicious sides) but on the whole, a wonderful time was had by our party of 7.

"Birthday dinner" We as a group of 5 had my wife’s birthday dinner. We had a main course and dessert each. Standout dishes were the braised beef, sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel creme brûlée. They were excellent. The roast vegetables and hand cut chips were also excellent. I had the John Dory which was cooked perfectly but maybe could have done with a touch more seasoning. I also had the roast peach clafoutis which had lovely taste although the peaches were a little firm possibly a more in season fruit might be better. These are only minor criticisms in what was a very enjoyable meal. Service was very good and the staff were great in accommodating presentation of our birthday cake. Very good quality food nicely cooked. We will be back.

"Excellent meal" Very high quality meal with excellent choice on menu. Selected from specials and a la carte. The variety of flavors in dishes was excellent. Normally on dessert I struggle to finish find one dish I like but on this occasion I struggled to decide between 4. Short but very well selected wine list. Deserves more than it’s michelin bib gourmand. Having eaten at a number of Michelin star restaurants this year, I’d say that the quality here is in the same league but at a very reasonable price.

"Great Spot in Adare" This restaurant was located across the street from the Inn we were staying at. 1826 Adare is known for their local ingredients, service, it's creative menu and thoughtful chef. I think the building it is in was built in 1826! It's the best restaurant in the area by far. Give it a try, if you can get a reservation. You will not be disappointed.
