Had the most amazing day at the spa at the merchant. We had a facial and pedicure done by Debbie and Faye. They were very friendly and experts at what they do. There was no hard sell on products which made us buy some products. All the girls at the spa were very welcoming. We have been to a lot of places for a facial at the merchant wins hands down. The key is the staff. Great job guys. You should be recognised. Are planning our next visit

My partner and I booked the Spa Taster, and from the moment it was booked (was able to do so by email) until the end of the experience, everything was so easy to organise and went smoothly. We were greeted on arrival by the lovely spa receptionist who showed us around and got everything sorted for us, she couldn't have been more helpful and genuinely nice. The hydrotherapy suite was very relaxing, even though it's not massive it definitely has everything you need in a spa - the pool is lovely and warm and has different areas where you can press a sensor to make bubbles for a hot tub effect, or for jets of water to hit various areas of your body and so on. There is also a sauna and a steam room, and an ice fountain and a nice warm lounger part. The spa taster package gave us an hour to relax and unwind in this area, before being taken to a treatment room and given a 25 minute treatment. I chose the head and neck massage as I often get migraines and wanted to ease my head and neck muscles and so on, and this was definitely the case. My shoulder area, neck area and head were all expertly massaged using nice oils, and the girl doing it couldn't have been nicer. I was then taken to a relaxation room to rest and relax, where we were able to lie back on comfy loungers while eating fresh fruit and drinking herbal tea and iced cold water. Pure bliss!! My time at the Merchant Spa flew by because I was having such a nice time, and I know I will return time and time again!

"Spa & Afternoon Tea"
I really wanted to get spa treatments during my stay in Belfast. While we didn't stay in The Merchant, the hotel is absolutely fabulous! Being a therapist myself I was really looking forward to getting some treatments and the spa did not disappoint. The thermal suite and relaxation room were fab and the therapists and treatments were lovely. We then went for afternoon tea in the "Great Room" which really lived up to its name. The decor was amazing!! The food was great and the service was excellent. The only downside was when the waiters came around asking if you would like to try samples of different foods, then you only realise when you get the bill that you are charged for them, it would be nice to be told that at the time. That and being charged 10% on top of your bill leaves the experience quite expensive. You can ask for this to be removed but given the surroundings you don't feel like you can. However I would definitely return.

All staff were exceptional but we were particularly impressed with Summer at the front desk who arranged for a balloon and truffles etc to be delivered to the room in honour of my mum’s birthday. She had even remembered her name, despite this only being mentioned in the passing and both were very touched! The Art Deco rooms were aesthetically fabulous and spotless; housekeeping obviously do a great job. Plus the evening turndown service is a luxurious treat. We had a lovely dinner at Bert’s Jazz Bar, where again the service was excellent. The Spa was wonderful, as was the rooftop hot tub, and Afternoon Tea in the Great Room was delicious! Breakfast both mornings was great and I particularly liked the Specials that were on offer during our stay. Couldn’t fault this hotel at all and will look forward to returning as soon as possible! Thank you to all the staff at the Merchant for making our trip so special!

"Great place, Wonderful Spa"
My Wife and I stayed here for our second wedding anniversary on Monday August 28th, you can tell just from entering you are in a class above everything else, the hotel is huge, has amazing décor and the staff are all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, we stayed in room 212 which was very spacious (especially the extra large bathroom and bathtub), and a nice surprise for us was to walk into the room that evening to find a balloon, a card and some chocolates, little things like this really do matter.
As we were treating ourselves we decided to book each other a full body massage in their Spa, now I have had quite a few massages before in other 5 star resorts but this was by far the best I have ever had, my therapist Emma was excellent and I told her I would be mentioning her by name on this review as she deserves to be recognised by the hotel for her dedication, we will be returning to the spa without a doubt even if not staying the night in the merchant
We didn't have dinner in the Merchant but had breakfast and it was once again delivered with a smile and was fantastic, I had the omelette and my wife had the fry and there were no complaints about either. All in all we had a lovely stay in the Merchant, its a little more expensive than most places in Belfast but it is the only 5 star hotel in Belfast, I would definitely recommend a stay here and would urge you to give the Spa a try.

"Spa trip bliss"
Booked in for a little treat with a friend for an Express Back, Neck and Shoulder massage. We were very well taken care of the second we arrived. Changing rooms and spa area is very luxurious with lots of lovely touches (hairdryers, straighteners). The massage itself was fantastic. The massage therapist was very soothing and made me feel very relaxed - so relaxed I have forgotten her name (Kelly-Ann perhaps - sorry but she was great!) She was more effective at getting knots out of my shoulders in 35 mins that some 90 minute treatments I've had in the past, I left feeling fabulous. We were then taken to the treatment room where we lay on recliners and were treated to a bowl of fresh fruit and water/juice. It was a lovely taster of the spa, and I can't wait to book in again.
