very disappointing. Extremely noisy residents banging on doors at 3am. Receptionist’s explanation was that it was teenagers on the rampage. Breakfast is buffet only and I expected more for a £300 night stay

Arrived at hotel to a lovely welcome. Staff were more than helpful. Had a fabulous superior room. The entertainment on the night was very good. However we were very disappointed with our breakfast. The bread was hard egg cold in fact it was totally pathetic. I would honestly go as far to say it’s the worst Irish breakfast I have ever had. Very disappointed especially for a 5star hotel

This was one of my most memorable trips. The Dorard provides a close up view of mountains, lawns, sea and a wonderful beach. Directly behind in one of the best golf courses in Ireland, Royal County Down, a beautifully manicured setting.
The food was beautiful, service was wonderful.
I did report how a scam website was passing itself off as the Donard Hotel. The website took a 30% booking fee. They asked for screenshot which I provided but never heard back from the manager.
Overall, I highly recommend this beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of Ireland

"Beautiful, historic property with lovely service and fabulous views of the Irish Sea"
We were so impressed from the minute we drove into this gorgeous resort. We spent two nights and wish we had more time to enjoy the spa, golf and relax. Highly recommend this place! Lots of golfers come to Newcastle as Ireland is the home of golf, but you can certainly enjoy the amenities here and not play! Just a wonderful experience!

We are visiting Ireland on a golfing and touring vacation. Love the people, food, and links golf. This hotel is next door to Royal county Down Golf club which makes it super convenient. Also my wife took advantage of a spa treatment( to enhance her golf prowess). This is truly a first class hotel. If you aren't happy here your hopeless!

"Great golf hotel"
Beautiful hotel on the sea. Service is good. Hotel bar is a place to settle in for a pint. Town has a nice feel with good restaurants. Of course the golf at Royal County Down is the best in the north of Ireland.

"January Break"
An outstanding location and top class hotel. A must stay if you’re planning a trip to Northern Ireland. Convenient for beautiful beach, outstanding Mourne Mountains, forest parks (Tollymore and Caatlewellan) and across the car park to the regularly rated No 1 golf course in the world, Royal County Down. If you find a better place to stay let me know

"Golf vacation"
Spent two nights there August 3-5, 2017. Played two rounds at Royal County Down. Got there early and they took our luggage, room wasn't ready but you expect that at 1000 hrs. Able to register and after golf just picked up key and luggage already in the room. Front desk staff friendly and efficient. Room very nice, bed very comfortable and enough space. Could have used one more towel. Breakfast was good and enough variety. Bar service good. Did not have dinner there but did order room service. Toast came up a little cold and I hate cold toast. Hotel very clean, grounds beautiful and great views. Checkout also very efficient at 5 am and front desk lady very nice.
