Ocklynge Manor B&B: East Sussex

Luxurious B&B in Eastbourne

Ocklynge Manor is the only accommodation in Eastbourne to have held the five Star Gold Award from both Visit Britain & The AA.

Situated in a quiet location, just over a mile from Eastbourne's sea front, it is convenient for the Eastbourne International Tennis Tournament, Theatres, Walking the South Downs Way National Park, Beachy Head, Birling Gap and Glyndebourne.

The house sits within a 3/4 acre walled garden and is just a short walk from Eastbourne's town centre and hospital.

The site was once a monastery and Commandery for the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem. The current house was built about 300 years ago and is one of Eastbourne's oldest houses.

A dwelling has existed on the site for at least 1000 years. The Peter Pan illustrator, Mabel Lucie Attwell, also lived here, hence the historic blue plaque on the road-side wall.

Guests are able to enjoy a delicious breakfast with hand-made bread and home-made marmalade, as well as the luxury of finest quality Egyptian cotton linen.

Eastbourne is in a great location for walking and to explore the Sussex coast, the South Downs National Park and many other National Trust houses.
