My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and have chosen powerscourt as our wedding venue. On one of the trips out to the venue, we came across the gardens and decided to take our dog for a scenic walk. We have been back EVERY single weekend since then. We just love the place! The scenery is stunning. I travel to California for walk and go hiking sometimes at the weekends. Powerscourt is 100% more beautiful than any national park I've been to in America. The redwood trees, the natural waterfalls, the river, the horses - it's just stunning. We have bought annual membership and convinced our family to join too. We are all hooked. Go, take a leisurely weekend walk and stop off on the way home for a feast in avoca (the nicest one in the country and with the most friendly staff). Don't take my word for it, just go!

This was our first stop on the second day of our trip to Ireland. We were driving from Dublin and came to Powerscourt Gardens and House. Boy was I delighted by the stark contrast from the busy city. I hadn't researched this place like my fellow travel companion and didn't know what to expect. I would say this place was one of the highlights of my trip. I loved the manicured gardens, tulips, pond, and Japanese garden. Although I didn't stay long, I really enjoyed the beautiful serene scenery while I was there. I could see having a very expensive wedding here or even having a wedding scene filmed here for a movie. If your heading down south from Dublin, definitely stop by.
