This place is the most relaxing place I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. A fairytale pink thatched traditional Irish cottage set in perfectly manicured grounds, tucked down a peaceful lane. It’s a stone’s throw from the famous Moran’s Oyster Bar where we had a gorgeous evening meal as recommended by our wonderful host. We arrived at Weir Haven tired after a long day’s travel and received the warmest of Irish welcomes from Kathleen with tea and homemade scones which was a lovely surprise. The house is furnished with amazing antiques and is most luxurious, it’s almost too good to be a B+B! The rooms are fabulous with high ceilings, chandeliers and spectacular views of the countryside and weir with it’s resident swans. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in and as the place is so tranquil I didn’t want to get up! There were lots of extra personal touches such as bottled water, bathrobes, toiletries and reading material in the room. At breakfast we were treated to a plentiful selection of homemade breads, preserves, muesli, cold meats, smoked salmon and cheeses plus tea, coffee and juice – it was delicious and set us up for a day of sightseeing in the stunning surrounding area of The Burren. Kathleen couldn’t do enough for us and gave us great recommendations for the local area of good places to visit, eat and shop- all top notch. Galway is breathtakingly beautiful and this place matches it, it definitely has the wow factor. In the evening we enjoyed just relaxing with a glass of wine in front of the log burner in the opulent sitting room- bliss! I can’t imagine why the reviewer a few below left such a harsh and in our opinion unfair review, the place is exactly how it looks on the pictures and the Irish hospitality was second to none. Thankfully we chose to ignore it and go with the opinion of all the other reviewers who rate the place highly, we realise some people can be extremely difficult to satisfy. It was the right choice for us as we had a fabulous stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hidden gem. Thanks Kathleen, hope to be back soon.
