Accommodation

A large kitchen-dining area forms the heart of the house. This area along with the living room and utility is set on a lower level to the bedrooms.

The kitchen window is 8 metres long and 4 metres high and occupies the entire sea facing wall. With its cherrywood units, central island and large dining table it is both a sociable and comfortable place to cook, dine and relax.

The house have five large bedrooms all en-suite. Between them they contain four king size and three single beds. The large bedroom also contains a sofa bed in case the need arises.

All en-suites contain a toilet, wash hand basin, and shower. The main bathroom contains a toilet, wash-hand basin, and bath. The first floor comprises the largest bedroom of the house with spectacular views out to the sea. This room makes an ideal family room as it contains a sofa bed which means there is room for an extra two people.

The large garden leads down to the beach and features a sheltered seating area which is great for eating outside and barbecues.
The floor to ceiling glass windows on the kitchen and large windows on the family room make the garden feel like part of the house.

We were at the house with my two kids (6 and 7, ) mother, sister and my wife and I. More then enough room for everyone and such a great base to explore the area. Pictures don't do the place justice as every room, bathroom, everything is super nice. The two fireplaces keep the place warm and the views just can't be beat. Take a walk down to the shore in the morning with a cup of coffee and you'll know you made the right choice. There are a few pubs in town that were fun to visit, but it doesn't feel as transient as some of the bigger villages in the area. We made it to the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, St. John's Castle and into Galway and this house was great base. I'd highly recommend staying here, you won't be sorry.

First of all, Seamus was wonderful in communicating timely to any inquiry. The house is perfect for a large group, nice bedrooms and private bathrooms. Everything is well kept, up to date and very clean. The location is perfect for a get away, you can walk into town (3 great pubs, good food), quiet surroundings and incredible view. I look forward to visiting again.

After communicating with Seamus prior to our arrival in Ballyvaughan, with my many questions , which were always promptly and kindly answered, it was time for our drive to the Burren. We actually drove through the Burren to get to Ballyvaughan. Upon arrival at Sycamore House , we were greeted by Seamus,Mary and their daughter. We were given some great information about the area, shown around the amazing house, which is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The pictures do not do justice to the amazing views out the rear of the house. The house itself was spacious and comfortable. One morning was a little chilly , so we made a fire in the wood burning stove in the kitchen and it heated right up. We enjoyed walking into town to the pubs and restaurants and touring around the area. We really enjoyed our stay at Sycamore House and loved the town of Ballyvaughan. Although we were only a group of 6, this house would accommodate many more people very comfortably. Thanks to Seamus and Mary for providing such a wonderful stay!

Sycamore house was the location we chose for our family reunion, some of who now live as far afield as Sydney, US, Berlin and various spots around Ireland. As a native Irish person I can certainly vouch for Ballyvaughan's beauty and authenticity. We all agreed that it is a magical place that really grows on you with each day. The village and indeed the area are remarkably lively in terms of culture, music, markets, good food, fishing, outdoor sports, arts, you name it. And what better place to enjoy it all from than a skip along the shore and down the pier to the peaceful, private and spacious retreat of Sycamore house. The house is beautifully appointed and well equipped and has wonderful views down to the shore and out on to the pier. In true Irish fashion Seamus and Mary were wonderfully warm and generous hosts and provided us with a wealth of information about the area. Thank you for making our stay most memorable and special. We look forward to coming back!
