I stayed here as part of wedding group on the night before the wedding. It was a truly beautiful place to stay, with comfortable beds, a great breakfast and a host who was really kind and considerate. I greatly appreciated Eamonn efforts to look after us (particularly Pachebel’s Canon!) – a lovely place to be cared for in an unobtrusive way.

"EXCELLENT"
We stayed here for a two week stay i Ireland with a group of 15 people. We also hired Coopers Cottage across the road for the extra three people.
What to say! Perfect, Magnificent, Excellent, Beautiful This house is absolutely fantastic and is well equipped. There is everything you can think of and more. Eamon and Stella were excellent hosts and took care of all our needs when asked without hesitation. They are wonderful people. The house is extremely well maintained.
The house is situated about 1 3/4 hours from Dublin. It is in the County of Tipperary, middle south of Ireland. There is a small village four minutes drive called Bansha, but the bigger town of Tipperary is about 10 minutes drive away and offers bigger supermarkets forall you food requirements.
In the town of Bansha we hired a 16 seater bus from Bansha Buses, for a day trip as a group around the Ring of Kerry. Stella and Eamon suggested prior to our visit, and then once there they organised it all for us.
Getting back to the house. The photos are exactly as it is. There are six queen & king bedrooms all with their own ensuites, and beautifully furnished and decorated. Downsatirs there is a formal lounge, massive dining room, a smaller tv room, and a wonderfully equipped kitchen with everything you need. The ;aundry area is situated outside in a outbuilding, but this proved not a problem.
As I mentioned before, we had a group of 15, originally 14! I emailed Stella after seeing this property on Trip Advisor, and asked if any of the downstairs room could accomodate a sofa bed, or something for the extra couple. She promptly emailed back and suggested Coopers Cottage for the excess, which I believe is their original home, and is literally one minute walk from the main house down the driveway. This turned out wonderfully as we had an extra guest bringing the group to 15. They did not charge us extra for this person. How often do you get that. Coopers Cottage has three bedrooms, and is well equipped, but didnt have a washing machine though. It is a wonderful extra for those groups with extra people staying with a big group.
The adtual position of the house is great, especially for the southern tourists spot we all want to see whilst in Ireland. Everything is within an hours drive of the house. Galway is about hour and half. We even did a day trip to Belfast, which was a 3 hour drive up and then back, but quite easily done on the freeways.
I would not hesitate recommending this house for any large gatherings whilst in Ireland. It was fantastic. As you can see I have done a lot of travelling all over the world, and I can honestly say that Rathellen House is probably one of the best places I have booked.
Take my hat of to both Stella and Eamon, wish you both best of luck in the future, thank you for a wonderful stay.

If you're looking for magic- look no further!
It's hard to know where to begin to explain our experience staying at Rathellen. We were excited to be in Ireland but the moment we drove into the driveway we almost stopped breathing. The setting is out of a movie set, the estate is beautiful and the owners are like family. I met up with my sister and her family in from the east coast for 10 days. We each took a
day to say what we wanted to do and the others had to go along with the itinerary. Needless to say it was a lot of fun. We went fly fishing by the river at Cashel Castle, we went canoeing in Kilkenny, we went horse back riding in the hills of Tipperary, we went to the coast and boated out to the islands, we kissed the Blarney Stone and had a private Irish music concert in the beautiful living room at Rathellen.
The location is perfect for all the day trips we took. We spent time in Kilmallock at a favorite pub too (where kids are welcome to have a soda and play darts) called Lynch's Pub. And we did the Titanic Experience because the 12 year old with us had studied about it and wanted to stand in the spot where passengers stood when they boarded the ship a few days before it sank. With everything we did, we barely scratched the surface of all the things that can be done.
We went in early June and the weather was perfect.
We cooked many meals at the Rathellen house in the dream kitchen. There is not a gadget you could want for.
We also had two prepared meals made for us and served and cleaned up ( that was a huge undertaking!) made by the owners, Eammon and served by Stella and beautiful Emily, their daughter home from college for the summer. They were 4 star meals. And they were 4 hour meals. No one wanted to leave the table because the food and talk were so good.
We had as much contact with the owners as we wanted. I promise you we could have spent more time with them, they are lovely and we fell in love with them and Murphy ( the black lab) and will consider them friends for the rest of our lives.
If you get really lucky you might get invited on a walk to some holy wells that only the locals know about.
There is not another place to stay if you want beautiful lodging ( the outlook from every room in this manor is spectacular). My spouse sat in every seat in the house because she said she didn't want to miss a spot of it and loved each one them for their comfort and views.
This is the place to retire to after a full day of the most beautiful scenery and people in the world!

A Wonderful Irish Experience!
The Rathellen House has all the charm and elegance of an old Georgian country house, but with the new modern conveniences and comfort. We stayed at the Rathellen House for a week and our stay was fantastic. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The décor of the house with antique furniture is beautiful and the house was very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The ensuite bathroom in our bedroom was large with a Jacuzzi tub and a heated towel rack. The Jacuzzi tub was wonderful after a long trip from the Napa Valley. The house faces the beautiful Galtee Mountains, so most of the bedrooms have a view of the mountains. The commercial kitchen is well equipped with anything you may want, if your are planning on cooking at home.

The location is great! Centrally located in County Tipperary, we were within about an hour to Waterford, Kilkenny, and Limerick. Rock of Cashel and Cahir are less than 30 minutes. There are also several scenic drives in the area of the Galtee Mountains. It was great to go exploring for the day and come back to this elegant and very comfortable.

We hope to return to Ireland and to be able to stay at the Rathellen House again.
