Inch House: Tipperary

Inch House, near Thurles in Co. Tipperary is a luxurious Georgian country house, built in 1720, meticulously restored and nestling in the middle of a 250-acre working farm. A winding driveway, planted with crops of wheat, oats and barley, leads to this unique hideaway, famed for its welcome. This magnificent 5-Star rural retreat offers the best of Irish country living.

The family-owned property is entering a new chapter as it is now available for the first time as an exclusive luxury private rental from July 1st, 2018 on a self-catering, weekly or 3 day weekend basis.

The family has developed a 5.5km looped national trail walk on the farm, around the fields of sheep and cattle and surrounding countryside. There is a multitude of walking and cycling routes, horse riding, food trails, fishing and hunting available. There's an abundance of Norman and Medieval history nearby, including castles, ring forts and abbeys and the famous Rock of Cashel

Accommodation
Featuring elegant reception rooms, halls, a library bar and kitchen, groups of up to 14 people can be accommodated for short or longer breaks, weddings, celebrations or corporate events in this beautiful part of Ireland. There's even a secret chapel!

The six individually styled en-suite bedrooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with antique furniture. The beautifully-appointed rooms overlook the fields of the surrounding farm dotted with sheep and cattle. This 18th-century farmhouse is a perfect base to explore the region.

From the 'Cream Room' with its beautiful four poster bed, lace drapes and side garden view, to the large 'Green Room' with a half-tester Prince Albert bed and seating area, each bedroom offers a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere.

The William Morris style drawing room at this glorious home features an open white marble fireplace and ornate ceilings and is the perfect place to relax. The dining room at the heart of the house offers guests the chance to step back in time and dine by candlelight against a backdrop of luxurious red and gold drapes.

Location
Ireland – and Tipperary in particular - is famous for its food culture and this has been embraced by the Egan family since they took on this house over 30 years ago. The self-catering option is available for groups, but if guests want to enjoy homemade produce and locally grown artisan food, there is the option to enjoy bespoke catering. Whether it's breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch or dinner, it can be arranged to suit, and this is what the Egan family have excelled in over the years.

Nora Egan is renowned for her Traditional Black Pudding and her 'Tipperary breakfasts', and the chefs at Inch House have also worked together to create a range of famous homemade chutneys, dressings and sauces.

"Magnificent" Lovely stately home with amazing views and some of the friendliest hosts we have ever met. Excellent walking trails close by...Will book again for next year!

"Horse riding group holiday"
I signed up as a solo traveler for a horse riding vacation and the Inch House was our home base for a week. Lavish accommodations with comfortable beds, pillows, hot shower/bath and laundry service available. The service was impeccable. The food fresh and delicious. Nora was always available to meet every need while allowing our group privacy, saying, "It's YOUR house this week, not mine." There were leftovers in the fridge and microwave available. The view from all rooms was lovely. Free WiFi. I highly recommend staying at Inch House!

"Wonderful country house"
Stately and beautiful manor house in county Tipperary. Rooms warm, comfortable and well appointed. Common areas have fireplaces and inviting areas to relax. The best part is the host Nora. She is friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining, thoughtful and an amazing cook. Highly recommend staying at Inch House.

"Weekend birthday celebration"
A big surprise birthday party arranged by my family in Southampton for a weekend at Inch House and to take in the Tipperary races.What a super place to stay and Nora and John made us feel so welcome to this house steeped in history. It was self catering but local services are readily available for take aways if you choose not to cook, as all equipment available in the house for cooking.A very memorable weekend in luxury setting and such friendly people. Excellent accommodation.

"Amazing weekend in a beautiful setting"
I stayed in Inch House earlier this month with a group of friends for my 30th birthday. It's a weekend I'll never forget, the grounds and the house itself are absolutely stunning! Even going up the driveway through the wheat fields was like entering another world, I couldn't get over how scenic it was!

Nora was very welcoming and friendly, and she gave us a tour with the history of the house when we arrived which was a lovely touch. They've put a lot of hard work into restoring it over the years and it really shows.

We were a group of 19 and we made full use of the kitchen and dining room for self catered meals, there's everything you could need there to cook, but of course they offer the option to have meals cooked for you also.
There's a long list of activities they can organise ahead of schedule and also the option to order a keg for the bar. There's even a small smoking room outside the bar area, and a glass fridge behind the bar if you have brought your own drink.

On this occasion we organised our own activities by having a murder mystery party, and the setting of the old Georgian House couldn't have been more perfect!

I would highly recommend staying in Inch House for any special occasion and am already craving to go back again!
