This magnificent former hunting lodge of the Earls of Bantry is idyllically situated on its own private island in the Glengarriff River.

This historic lodge has been carefully restored and now offers discerning guests a blend of ‘olde-worlde’ charm and modern luxury living.

Glengarriff Lodge accommodates up to eight people in its four double bedrooms, three of which are en-suite. Pet-friendly within limits

Whether you enjoy experimenting with local artisan foods in the hand-crafted kitchen, or gazing at the river from the conservatory, or simply luxuriating in front of a roaring log fire, this unique hideaway will satisfy completely.

There are numerous riverside walks, through the surrounding woodlands which have been the subject of extensive conservation, some of which are officially designated as being of ‘scientific importance’.

We had a wonderful stay in the house and grounds which were second to none. We were very impressed with the quality of the finishes in the house and cannot speak highly enough of our stay. Many thanks for your hospitality we wish you every success in your venture – you deserve it.

We have had a wonderful week. The weather has been superb. Days have been filled with visits to Garnish Island, The Bamboo Garden, Sheep’s Head Peninsula, Beara Peninsula and Dereen Gardens. The drive over the Healy Pass is spectacular. At the end of each day we returned to this lovely setting. The warmth and sunshine made paddling and swimming in the river particularly pleasurable. However the logs in the living room were also a reminder of how cosy it would be in the colder months of the year also. A lovely property in an excellent location.

What a wonderful place! Must be one of the best residences in West Cork. I have no natural empathy for interior design/decor but even I can see the attention to detail. By contrast I am a fanatical gardener and it’s been an absolute pleasure to wander around the grounds. It’s a joy to me to see that you recovered so many unusual specimen trees and shrubs – presumably from a fairly overgrown state. I can see newer plantings of interesting varieties. Must look particularly great in April/ May and I’d love to come again then. Lastly adults and children alike have enjoyed swimming in the river!
