Alderley House: Gloucestershire

Perfect Cotswold locationConveniently located and within a few minutes’ walk of the centre of the village, this lovely detached holiday house is an ideal base from which to explore and savour the delights of the Cotswolds, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the sparkling and swiftly flowing River Windrush racing through the broad expanse of village green, the ’Venice of the Cotswolds’ as Bourton is referred to, is a treat for visitors no matter what time of year. With its graceful low stone bridges spanning the small river at intervals, the centre of the village is picture postcard perfect throughout the seasons. The Roman road and the Fosse Way, is a major access route running across the area, taking the visitor from Moreton-in-Marsh in the north to Cirencester in the south. Local Bourton attractions include the Model Village, Motor Museum and Birdland. Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Kenilworth castles are all within a comfortable drive, while the beautiful gardens of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor are near beautiful Chipping Campden. The house was spacious and there was plenty of room for us all to eat together and socialize afterwards. The heating worked well and every bedroom had an en-suite facility. Having one bedroom downstairs sold the holiday to us because of my disabled wife. The owners were very friendly. Could do with a set of kitchen scales.

Property was excellent, locality ideal for the Cotswolds and easy walking distance to attractions as well as village. Secure garden for our dog. The owners very friendly and helpful. A great property for a group, as all bedrooms en-suite, all in our group had a very enjoyable holiday.

We are a family of mom, dad, plus off springs and grandchildren (ie 6 adults and 1 child and 2 babies). The accommodation was very roomy and the facilities excellent (with every room being en-suite there was no queuing!) The lounge was well equipped for seating so that we could all sit comfortably. The owner was very helpful and friendly. A super weekend was had by all.
