We had the pleasure of dining here as part of our recent stay. The restaurant was wonderfully clean and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. Covid guidelines were strictly adhered to but not intimidatingly so. Service was prompt, at no time were we left waiting. We chose the fine dining menu and were not disappointed. One or two items didn't suit my own palate but that cannot take away from the quality of ingredients and the dish. An amuse bouche of beetroot and mozzarella began our meal. I am not a fan of beetroots earthy flavour my husband however adored it. Starters were scallops for the gent and a raviolo for myself. Both delicious. Especially the scallops. A wonderful palate cleanser of lemon sorbet and gin syrup followed. This was beautiful and I was tempted to ask for a repeat for dessert. For mains my husband had the duck breast in a red wine reduction. I opted for fillet of beef cooked Blue. The chef did not disappoint. I often find when I request this it's simply served rare but not this time. A perfect sear on the outside to contrast the body of the beef. Vegtables were kept simple but appropriate. Creamed Potatoes and a medley of carrots, parsnips and I am told cauliflower.
For dessert I opted for a selection of Irish cheeses which was generous enough for two. While my husband opted for what could only be described as a symphony of chocolate. All of this was washed down with a very tasty Malbec. As it was our anniversary we received some wonderfully themed petite fours not only in our room but also with our meal. All in all top marks. Looking forward to a return trip already.

"Excellent food, service and wine"
Had the early bird here recently, at €40 more expensive than a normal early bird but very worthwhile and enjoyable with excellent friendly but professional service in a beautiful dining room in the castle.

"Excellent castle dining experience. Well worth the price!"
This is the best restaurant in the Munster region. Dinner is 60 euro per person but well worth the price. We were staying at the castle and retired to our room afterwards but even if you are not staying at the castle it is a great place to have a meal.

"Fine dining indeed"
The first recommendation is to check beforehand if The Munster Room Restaurant is open to the public since it is often closed for private events. My wife and I finally made it there to eat. We had been to Waterford Castle several times in the last few years for Afternoon Tea (also highly recommended) so we already knew that the environment would be conducive to a fine meal.

The service from start to finish was perfect. The menu for the three-course meal (€60 per person + drinks) is varied enough for the odd visit - I assume however that it changes periodically. In between the 3 courses there are also little "tasters". The food was simply excellent, without exception.
