Drumanilra Farm Kitchen: Roscommon

Fresh from farm to plate; few artisan eateries on our Island can offer you the finest organic foods, produced with love on their very own local farm. Drumanilra Farm Kitchen has gained much recognition and a growing dedicated fan base for their food philosophy and diligent approach to organic grassroots farming.

"Welcome to the Drumanilra Farm Kitchen Using fantastic ingredients, from our own organic farm, to make food of rare tastiness".

The small family run organic farm rears Irish native breeds outdoors on the shores of Lough Key in County Roscommon. Their pedigree herd of Irish Dexters are an endangered native cattle breed, renowned for flavoursome and well-marbled beef. Owners Liam and Justina also raise rare-breed Jacob sheep slowly on grass, while the pedigree sows produce small batches of outdoor Berkshire and Irish Grazer (Tamworth) pork. Rashers and hams are hand-cured, using a traditional organic dry cure, and the organic 95% pork sausages are handmade.

For Christmas, Drumanilra raises organic free range geese, ducks and bronze turkeys. Throughout the year, they keep a flock of laying hens and several polytunnels to grow organic salads and vegetables to complement the meats, served and sold in the Drumanilra Farm Kitchen and Shop.

The Farm Kitchen has its quirky home in a renovated old house in the centre of Boyle in Roscommon. You can dine in a restored room in the old house, or in the garden on picnic benches in Summer. There is a roaring wood fire in winter, children’s corner with books and games, a sandpit outside and the weekend papers on Saturdays. Dogs on leads welcome in the garden.

Winter Opening Times:

Tuesday to Friday: 9 am to 6 pm

Saturday: 10am to 6pm

Sunday: 10am to 4pm

Having heard all the rave reviews about this organic producer from Lough Key, we visited Drumanilra farm shop and cafe yesterday at Lunch and absolutely loved it. I had the special Lamb Tagine, and it was easily one of the best tenderest lamb dishes I have ever devoured. My son had one of their revered organic burgers and wanted to travel 100 miles again today for a repeat order. Drmanilra is a unique Irish dining experience, and the setting reflects the simplicity and wholesomeness of the food. Bravo!! Highly recommend, and they deserve all credit for rearing organic pedigree stock on the shores of Lough Key and serving locally instead of reselling to expensive restaurants. Visited March 2017

Have to write a review about the best kept secret in the West. I travel from Leitrim to treat myself to the tasty dishes at Drumanilra. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and they have some lovely organic takeaway rashers and sausages. Well worth a visit guys..

The best food shop for miles around. Their organic chickens are to die for and they stock a whole range of delicious organic veg and treats. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you. There is a cafe on site so you can make it a destination venue. A real gem of a place.
