"The Cottages ARE the Destination"
I stay in the Cottages every year, but this year was the first year staying in Rose Cottage. It's just gorgeous. Spacious, luxurious, yet cosy and full of character.
From the moment my mother and I walked into the cottage, we felt at home. We boiled the kettle and ate the lovely scones Liz left as a welcome and sat down on the couch to rest. From here, to my wonder, there was an unbroken view of the sea, a feature that would play a huge part in the overall experience.
We selected our bedrooms and I grabbed a power shower with nice fluffy towels and underfloor heating, then another cuppa and an explore outside. There is a gallery window in Rose Cottage and outside, there is a seat where you can just sit and watch the sea. All around the cottage are roses of all types, deeply scented. From every window there is a view, be it the sea, or flowers, or another beautiful cottage. Everything has been thoughtfully designed to ensure constant beauty. Then there is the silence of nature to observe.
I badly needed a break from my noisy home and difficult neighbours. I drank in the sound of sea and birds at the Cottages and I immediately felt it healing me. There is no other place that has this effect on me, bar perhaps the great expanse of Connemara, but I prefer the Cottages. I can put no price on this.
The Rose Cottage experience is one of luxury and comfort. It's always warm and welcoming. Unlike a hotel room, staying at the Cottages means that you are always looking forward to heading back there after your day. We didn't go anywhere for two days, because the Cottages are the destination.
In the evenings I read books about the outside world, (there are loads of books supplied). My lucky find this year was a book about Boudicca and the Roman Empire and sea invasions. Having a view of the sea every time I looked up from the pages was an added bonus and a very special experience.
At night I sat outside the Cottage and watched the lights of ships passing and listened to the waves.
In the mornings and evenings, I walked the magnificent beach at the end of the Cottages which is a cathedral of nature.
Top class accommodation;, an authentic cottage experience with all modern amenities, spotless, surrounded by natural healing. Wonderful deep sleeps lulled by waves crashing, in unbelievably comfortable beds. I loved Rose Cottage. It's very special and would recommend it highly to anyone. It's a dream of rose scent, sea views and sheer indulgent luxury.
